Terms of Service
1. Introduction
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Panther Barcode Reader, a QR and barcode scanner for Android and Windows, and this website (barcode.panthersoft.net). Panther Barcode Reader is developed and offered by Panther Soft ("Panther Soft," "we," "us"). By downloading, installing, or using Panther Barcode Reader, or by using this website, you agree to these Terms.
2. Software License
Subject to these Terms, Panther Soft grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use Panther Barcode Reader on your own devices for your personal use. This license does not transfer ownership of the software to you — Panther Barcode Reader remains the property of Panther Soft.
3. Free App & Paid App
The Android application is free to download and use, and may be supported by advertising. Panther Barcode Reader for Windows is offered as a paid application: a one-time purchase, with no recurring subscription. You may download and evaluate the Windows application before purchasing a license. See the License page for details.
4. Purchases and Payments
Online purchasing is not currently available on this website (see Pricing). Panther Barcode Reader for Windows can be downloaded and evaluated today; paid Windows licenses will be offered once online checkout is available. When it is, this section will be updated to name the payment provider and merchant of record, describe how payments and applicable taxes are handled, and link the provider's terms. Pricing is displayed at the time of purchase.
5. Digital Delivery
Panther Barcode Reader is delivered as a digital download. There is no physical shipment. The Android application is delivered through its app store listing; the Windows application is delivered from this website.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the software, except to the extent permitted by law;
- Redistribute, resell, or sublicense the software or any license key;
- Use the software for any unlawful purpose;
- Attempt to circumvent any licensing or activation mechanism.
7. Device Connectivity
Panther Barcode Reader can pair your devices to share scan results over your local network or by Bluetooth. You are responsible for pairing only devices you trust and for the networks you connect to. Local sharing between your paired devices does not require a Panther Soft account.
8. Intellectual Property
Panther Barcode Reader, including its software, design, branding, and documentation, is the intellectual property of Panther Soft and is protected by applicable copyright and trademark laws. These Terms do not grant you any rights to Panther Soft's trademarks, logos, or brand assets.
9. Updates and Changes
Panther Soft may release updates that add features, fix issues, or otherwise modify the applications. Continued use of Panther Barcode Reader after an update constitutes acceptance of the updated application under these Terms.
A paid Windows license includes free updates and bug fixes for the major version you purchase. When a future major version is released, existing licence holders will be offered a discounted upgrade to that version. Any such change will be communicated in advance and will not retroactively remove functionality you have already purchased.
10. Third-Party Services
The Android application is distributed through a third-party app store and may use a third-party advertising service; the Windows application, once purchasing is available, will use a third-party payment provider. These services are subject to their own terms and privacy policies. Panther Soft is not responsible for the availability or performance of third-party services outside its control.
11. Disclaimer
Panther Barcode Reader is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement, to the maximum extent permitted by applicable law. Scanning accuracy can vary with code quality, lighting, and camera hardware.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Panther Soft shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, arising out of or related to your use of Panther Barcode Reader or this website.
13. Termination
Panther Soft may suspend or revoke a license in cases of confirmed abuse, fraud, or a material breach of these Terms. You may stop using Panther Barcode Reader and uninstall it at any time.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of Panther Barcode Reader or this website after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
