1. Overview
Panther Barcode Reader is a QR and barcode scanner for Android and Windows, developed by Panther Soft ("Panther Soft," "we," "us"). This policy explains how the applications and this website handle information. Panther Barcode Reader is designed to keep your scan data on your own devices.
2. What stays on your device
Panther Barcode Reader does not collect or upload your scan history, camera images, or the QR codes you generate. Scanning is performed on your device, and your scan history and favorites are stored locally in the application's own storage.
Camera access on Android is used only while the scanner is open, to detect and decode codes in the camera view. You can revoke camera permission at any time from your device settings.
3. Device-to-device sharing
If you choose to pair your Android phone and Windows PC, the two applications can exchange scan results and history directly with each other over your local network or by Bluetooth. This sharing:
- happens only between devices you have paired, after you confirm a verification code;
- is encrypted between the paired devices;
- does not require a Panther Soft account, and does not route your scans through a Panther Soft server for local sharing;
- can be ended at any time by removing the trusted device.
4. This website
This website (barcode.panthersoft.net) does not use analytics or advertising cookies, and does not set tracking cookies. Standard web-server logs may record request information such as IP address and user agent for security and reliability purposes.
5. Advertising (Android)
The free Android application is supported by advertising, delivered through Google AdMob, a Google advertising service. To serve ads, AdMob may use your device's advertising identifier and similar information as described in Google's advertising policies and AdMob's data disclosure. Panther Soft does not receive this advertising data itself. You can limit ad personalization or reset your advertising identifier from your device's settings.
The Windows application does not display advertisements.
6. Payments
Online purchasing of a Windows license is not currently available on this website (see Pricing). When online checkout becomes available, this section will be updated to name the payment provider and merchant of record, describe what payment information they handle, and confirm that Panther Soft does not receive or store full card details. Until then, no payment information is collected through this website.
7. Your control
Because your scans and history are stored on your own device, you control them directly: you can delete individual scans, clear your history, remove trusted devices, or uninstall the application. Uninstalling the application removes its local data; it does not modify files elsewhere on your device.
8. Children
Panther Barcode Reader is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children.
9. Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date above reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of Panther Barcode Reader or this website after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
